New technical article in “Chemie Ingenieur Technik”: Particle size and zeta potential measurement on nano-oxide suspensions

In order to optimize suspensions with regard to their stability against sedimentation and/or agglomeration, it is crucial to determine their properties, such as particle size distribution, zeta potential, and electrical conductivity. Ideally, the investigations should be carried out on original systems, since, for example, dilution of the sample can change the initial properties. For nanoscale suspensions, modern optical measuring instruments such as the BeNano 180 Zeta Pro, which uses the two methods “dynamic light scattering (DLS)” for particle size determination and “electrophoretic light scattering (ELS)” for zeta potential measurement, are particularly suitable for this task. In the article, practically relevant, oxide nanosuspensions (SiO2, TiO2 and Al2O3) are investigated with the measuring instrument and its possibilities are demonstrated.
