The Bettersizer ST is a compact, highly integrated instrument for the analysis of particle size distributions. It analyzes particle size distributions according to the principle of static light scattering (laser diffraction). Short wavelength laser light (635 nm) hits the particles to be characterized and is elastically scattered depending on the particle size. The stationary detectors determine the angular dependence of the scattering intensity in forward, lateral and reverse direction. Data preparation according to either Fraunhofer or Mie theory provides the volume-based particle size distribution of the sample.
