Particle size analysis of lithium battery cathode materials

Battery research is becoming increasingly important in the context of energy transition. The manufacturers of cathode materials are faced with the challenge of finding materials that combine a high capacity with a long service life and high safety. An important indicator for these parameters is the particle size distribution of the cathode materials. On an example of lithium iron phosphate, this article shows how the particle size distribution can be determined quickly, easily and reliably by using the Bettersizer 2600 of the manufacturer Bettersize. In addition, the results of the measurements are discussed with regard to the capacity, charging and discharging duration as well as the safety of the battery.
