Depending on the measurement method used, particles in a powder or dispersion may have the same particle size but be completely different in terms of their shape or outer contour. In the following example, the equivalent surface area diameter XA is the same for all three “particles,” but their shapes are very different and, as a result, their properties in the application (powder feeding, etc.) are also very different.

For this reason, in practice it is often not sufficient to measure a material in terms of particle size distribution; the entire particle morphology is also important. 3P offers various image analysis systems that provide more than 20 shape parameters to specify or differentiate your materials in addition to particle size.
