BETTERSIZER S3 Plus – new generation of laser diffraction devices for the first time represented on the Powtech!

With the BETTERSIZER S3 Plus there is a really new generation of laser diffraction devices at the market for particle sizers from now on. The first-time presentation of the BETTERSIZER on the Powtech at the end of September 2017 fitted very well to the „powder fair“. Many users reported to us about their problems to be able to detect the smallest or the biggest particles. With the BETTERSIZER S3 Plus this is possible now, as the instrument comes with an integrated high tech package specifically designed for these tasks:

BETTERSIZER S3 Plus with innovative double lens technology for exact measurement from 10 nm
The smallest particles can be analyzed by use of the patented DLOIS technology of the BETTERSIZER analyzer. The additional lens between laser and measuring cell changes the divergent laser beam in a parallel ray, while it also allows the detection of the backscattered light. The use of only one laser light creates a continuous diffraction spectrum with consistent wavelength. The sloping incidence of light permits the detection of a large angular range up to 165°.

The maximum scattered light intensity of big particles is used to measure only at very small angles. This is mostly insufficient to analyze with the classical laser diffraction method. The integrated dynamic shape analysis of the BETTERSIZER S3 Plus allows particle capture by means of a camera in contrast to other laser diffraction analyzers in the market! In this way the BETTERSIZER S3 Plus permits realistic measurements up to 3.5 mm.

Thanks to the implemented dynamic picture analysis the most important form parameters can be calculated from the pictures of a single particle – aspect ratio, circularity, edge sharpness among other things. The form analysis can be carried out to perform dimensions analysis or self-sufficiently simultaneously. It is also possible to choose between two enlargement factors of the picture admission (0.5x and 10x).
