3P Instruments and PMI at the Filtech trade fair – visit us!

Filtech is the largest and most important trade fair for separation and filtration technology. Last year, more than 14,000 participants and 380 exhibitors from all over the world came to Cologne. The trade fair focuses on membranes, filters and textiles. Before applying these materials, it is important to characterize their pore systems. Filters, membranes and textiles often have through-pores, i.e. pores that completely penetrate the material and connect two sides of a workpiece. The application spectrum of materials with through-pores is very broad and ranges from medical applications such as dialysis to separators of electrodes in fuel cells.

Capillary flow porometers can be used for precise characterization of the pore systems and determination of the pore size distribution. Porometers may be selected for two main applications: permeametry and capillary flow porometry (e.g. with the iPore). Further information on the underlying principles can be found here and in the current article of our free magazine “Particle World”.

The instruments of the manufacturer PMI offer a wide range of special modules and possibilities to characterize special materials. Furthermore, it is possible to combine sample holders manufactured according to own specifications with the PMI capillary flow porometers. The pressure and flow controllers as well as the flow sensors are adjusted and calibrated as part of regular maintenance. This calibration can also be carried out with own constructions and thus enables an even broader field of application of the measuring instruments.
