The devices of the new BetterPyc 380 series are automatic gas pycnometers that determine the true density (skeleton density) of a powder, solid, or dispersion based on the gas displacement method (DIN 66137-2). Equipped with precise temperature control, pressure measurement, and intuitive software, users can determine the true density of their sample very easily, accurately, and reproducibly.
When measuring pure density with the Betterpyc 380, the measuring gas (e.g., helium or nitrogen) is first heated to the target measuring temperature in order to increase the accuracy of the measurement. The specially designed sealing system of the sample cell ensures a simple and absolutely gas-tight measuring chamber. This, in conjunction with the integrated temperature control system and high-resolution pressure sensor, allows equilibrium pressures with a change rate of < 0.005 psig/min and thus density accuracies of 0.0001 g/cm³.
